LM741 Op-Amp Pinout
LM741 · DIP-8 / SOIC-8
The LM741 is the classic general-purpose operational amplifier. Eight pins: two inputs, one output, two supplies, two offset-null pins and one no-connect.
| Pin | Name | Function |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | OFFSET NULL | Trim pot to null input offset voltage |
| 2 | IN− | Inverting input |
| 3 | IN+ | Non-inverting input |
| 4 | V− | Negative supply (or ground in single-supply use) |
| 5 | OFFSET NULL | Other end of the offset trim pot |
| 6 | OUT | Output |
| 7 | V+ | Positive supply |
| 8 | NC | No internal connection |
Things that catch people out
- Offset null uses a 10 kΩ pot between pins 1 and 5 with the wiper to V−.
- The 741 is not rail-to-rail: expect roughly 1.5 V of headroom at each rail.
